Experience an evidence-based, holistic and root cause approach to your personal health journey – the way healthcare should be.

Hello, I’m Dr. Jennifer Chung. I’m board certified in Internal Medicine, certified in Functional Medicine, and have over a decade of experience in primary care. My focus is on healthy aging and cardiometabolic health, with particular attention to the interplay between stress physiology, metabolic health, and chronic disease. I have a special interest in identifying under-recognized metabolic risk, especially in Asian American patients where standard screenings may fall short. My approach is inclusive, culturally informed, and evidence-based, helping patients optimize their whole health and healthspan.
Our modern world is increasingly toxic—marked by rising environmental pollution, chronic stress, poor nutrition, and constant digital and emotional overload – while our current healthcare system is often ill-equipped to address the growing complexity of chronic disease. Conventional medicine frequently takes a reductionist view of illness, leading to a “pill for every ill” approach that can result in long medication lists rather than true, lasting healing.
I work with you as a partner in your health, supporting you alongside your primary care physician and healthcare team. My goal is to help you restore vitality, energy, and resilience, optimizing your whole health and healthspan.
We begin by understanding the full picture—your symptoms, medical history, lifestyle, environment, and personal health goals. Using a functional medicine framework, I look beyond isolated diagnoses to identify root causes that may be contributing to imbalance or chronic symptoms.
From there, we develop a personalized, evidence-based plan grounded in the core pillars of that support lifelong vitality:
Nourishing nutrition, purposeful physical activity, restorative sleep, effective stress management and mindfulness practices, meaningful social connection, and avoidance of harmful habits.
These pillars are not trends nor are they quick fixes. They are daily, sustainable practices that lead to measurable, lasting change. I integrate them within a root-cause functional medicine framework, using advanced testing and, when appropriate, thoughtfully selected medications, hormone therapy, and targeted nutritional supplementation to address areas requiring additional support.
This is the foundation of my practice, where evidence-based medicine meets lifestyle transformation, empowering you to reclaim your health and live fully.
As a former primary care physician, I have experience working with patients with a wide range of health-limiting conditions, including but not limited to:
*Please note that I do not treat patients with active cancer
I provide the following services to patients located in Virginia through virtual consultations using a HIPAA compliant online platform.

Foundational Assessments are up to 90 minutes long. During this visit, I will walk through your detailed medical history with you to identify potential root causes contributing to your health concerns. I will also review your current diet, exercise habits, environmental exposures, sleep patterns, stress resilience, and social connections to further detect areas of imbalance. I will then recommend an initial lifestyle-focused plan that is realistic, sustainable and personalized. This may include a specific meal plan with access to a recipe database of nourishing meals, a tailored exercise prescription, medication or supplement recommendations, as well as recommendations for advanced testing as applicable. My intention is for every patient to leave the consultation feeling empowered and equipped with the knowledge and actionable tools to take meaningful steps toward healing.

After the Foundational Assessment, you can elect to become a member of my practice and request follow up consultations for continued care. Ongoing follow up consultations are 30-60 minutes long and available to members of the practice at an interval that supports your progress. Some patients may need to be seen every 4-6 weeks for the first few months due to the complexity of their medical conditions, and then less frequently as healing occurs. Others may need or prefer quarterly visits, as they utilize other members of their healthcare team in between our visits. After each visit, a comprehensive visit summary detailing what was discussed will be uploaded to the Patient Portal so that you will have a clear plan of action to refer to in between visits.

I provide ongoing support and coordination of care through a membership model. As one of my established patients, you are part of a private, patient-centered practice where your doctor knows you, builds a true partnership with you, and is personally invested in helping you achieve your wellness goals. Membership allows me to communicate with you between visits, refill medications, review new health records, communicate with other health care team members as needed, as well as numerous other tasks involved in the comprehensive care of patients outside of virtual clinic visits. Members enjoy ongoing exclusive access to my private recipe database, featuring dietitian-designed, nourishing, family-friendly meals that are both flavorful and simple to prepare, with personalization to support individual needs. Membership is non-binding, billed on a monthly basis, and may be canceled with 30 days’ written notice.
*The costs of the recommended laboratory or functional health tests are NOT included in the fees outlined above. Membership is not required to schedule the Foundational Assessment. However, membership is required in order for me to order the recommended tests, supplements or prescribe medications, as well as provide ongoing communication through the membership portal.
