Services | Functional and Lifestyle Medicine in Virginia and Florida
I am based in Richmond, VA and provide two options of care: Precision Cardiometabolic Care and Comprehensive Functional Medicine Care to patients located in Virginia and Florida through virtual consultations using a HIPAA compliant online platform.
Precision Cardiometabolic Care

For patients looking to prevent, improve, or reverse cardiometabolic disease through a personalized, evidence-based approach.
This focused care pathway is designed for individuals with prediabetes, type 2 diabetes, insulin resistance, high cholesterol, hypertension, obesity, fatty liver disease, coronary artery disease, or a family history of cardiovascular disease. Whether your goal is disease prevention, reducing cardiovascular risk, or improving an existing condition, this program provides a comprehensive evaluation and personalized treatment plan.
Using advanced biomarkers, targeted diagnostic testing, and precision preventive medicine, we identify your unique risk factors and create an individualized strategy built on the foundations of Lifestyle Medicine. Together, we’ll focus on optimizing nutrition, physical activity, sleep, stress management, and other key lifestyle factors to improve metabolic health, reduce cardiovascular risk, and support long-term health and vitality
Comprehensive Functional Medicine

For patients with complex, chronic health concerns seeking a root-cause approach to healing.
This comprehensive care pathway is designed for individuals with chronic or unexplained symptoms who are looking beyond symptom management to understand the underlying factors contributing to their health. It is ideal for patients with thyroid disorders, autoimmune disease, digestive disorders, chronic fatigue, hormonal imbalances, environmentally acquired illnesses, sleep disturbances, and other complex conditions that have not fully responded to conventional treatment.
Using the principles of Functional Medicine and Lifestyle Medicine, we take a comprehensive, personalized approach to identify the root causes of illness and develop an evidence-based plan that supports long-term healing, improved function, and lasting wellness.
Which is right for you?
Precision Cardiometabolic Plan
This plan is focused specifically on metabolic and cardiovascular health. It’s designed to identify and address factors that contribute to conditions such as:
- Insulin resistance and prediabetes
- Type 2 diabetes
- High cholesterol and abnormal lipid particles
- High blood pressure
- Obesity and weight management
- Fatty liver disease
- Cardiovascular disease risk
- Inflammation related to metabolic health
A typical plan may include:
- Advanced lipid testing (beyond a standard cholesterol panel)
- Blood sugar and insulin analysis
- Inflammatory markers
- Body composition and metabolic assessment
- Nutrition and exercise recommendations targeted to metabolic health
- Supplement recommendations, if appropriate
- Medication optimization (when applicable)
- Ongoing monitoring of cardiometabolic biomarkers
This is the best choice if your primary goals are improving heart health, lowering disease risk, losing weight, optimizing cholesterol, or reversing metabolic dysfunction.
Comprehensive Functional Medicine Plan
This is a whole-body, systems-based evaluation. Instead of focusing mainly on cardiometabolic health, it investigates multiple body systems to identify root causes of chronic symptoms and optimize overall wellness.
Depending on your history and symptoms, it may evaluate:
- Hormone balance
- Gut health and digestion
- Immune function
- Autoimmune conditions
- Nutrient deficiencies
- Thyroid and adrenal function
- Environmental toxin exposures
- Chronic inflammation
- Mitochondrial health
- Sleep and stress physiology
- Cardiometabolic health (as one component)
A comprehensive functional medicine plan often includes:
- Extensive laboratory testing
- Detailed health timeline and lifestyle review
- Personalized nutrition plan
- Supplement protocol
- Lifestyle optimization (sleep, exercise, stress management)
- Hormone evaluation when indicated
- Gut healing strategies if needed
- Long-term coaching and follow-up
This option is better suited for people with:
- Multiple chronic symptoms
- Fatigue
- Digestive issues
- Hormonal concerns
- Autoimmune disease
- Brain fog
- Chronic inflammation
- Complex or unexplained health problems
At a glance
| Precision Cardiometabolic Plan | Comprehensive Functional Medicine Plan |
|---|---|
| Focuses on heart and metabolic health | Evaluates the entire body and interconnected systems |
| Ideal for cholesterol, diabetes, weight loss, blood pressure, and cardiovascular risk | Ideal for complex, chronic, or unexplained symptoms affecting multiple systems |
| Uses targeted metabolic testing | Uses broader, more comprehensive testing based on your needs |
| Typically narrower in scope | Much broader and more personalized |
In short, the Precision Cardiometabolic Plan is a targeted program for optimizing metabolic and cardiovascular health, while the Comprehensive Functional Medicine Plan is a more extensive, root-cause approach that includes cardiometabolic health but also addresses hormonal, digestive, immune, nutritional, and other systemic factors. If your main concern is preventing or treating metabolic disease, the cardiometabolic plan is likely sufficient. If you’re dealing with a wider range of chronic symptoms or want a comprehensive assessment of your overall health, the functional medicine plan offers a broader evaluation.
Transitioning to Comprehensive Functional Medicine Care
Some patients begin with the Cardiometabolic Health pathway and later decide they would like a more comprehensive, root-cause evaluation for additional or unrelated health concerns, such as autoimmune disease, thyroid disorders, digestive issues, chronic fatigue, hormonal imbalances, or other complex chronic conditions.
Patients who wish to transition to the Comprehensive Functional Medicine care pathway may do so at any time with a one-time $250 transition fee.
This fee reflects the significant physician time devoted outside of scheduled visits to reviewing your complete health history, developing a comprehensive functional medicine testing strategy, ordering and interpreting advanced functional medicine laboratories, and creating a personalized treatment plan that may include targeted nutrition, lifestyle recommendations, supplements, and prescription medications when appropriate.
Once enrolled, you’ll continue your care through the Comprehensive Functional Medicine pathway, including membership and ongoing follow-up visits tailored to your individual health goals.
